Fun Backstory: The Secret Weakness of Deprador

Unfortunately for those who meet him, Deprador is as awesome as he looks. Massive legs, similar to those of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, support an unusually muscular torso. In fact, Deprador is unusual in many ways.

The best way to describe Deprador is to simply say he is a Fantastic Fantastical! A compilation of many creatures, a survey of his physique typically begins with his beak. Bright yellow with a pink tongue that always seems to be visible, it is a formidable weapon, and one that Deprador uses frequently. His brown head houses black eyes with tan-black-and white circles around them that are constantly scanning everything around him, always on the lookout for his favorite items to consume.

A broad, brown chest with black markings anchor both his navy-blue wings with pink feather highlights and Zapotec markings on the underside and equally unusual arms. Brown with black spots and yellow markings on top that support white, pink, and black circular markings. His afore mentioned legs are brown in front, giving way to pinkish backs.

Of all of these unusual body parts, perhaps the most unique are his back and long, green tail. Speckled with black markings, between his shoulders is a beautiful yellow butterfly with pink wings and yellow markings. As your eye moves down his back you noticed a leaf that a large, black ant is sitting on. Outlining his back and tail, if you would, are pink highlights. Yes, Deprador is quite an impressive specimen.

And, an intimidating one. In fact, that’s what Deprador was in the process of doing - being intimidating!

“Senor Tendero,” he said, a smile curled on his beak that would convince anyone that he wasn’t amused, “I will ask you one more time - - where is it!”

The storekeeper gulped nervously, and stole a glance at the door. Deprador caught the motion and leaned in until his beak was only inches away from the other’s face.

“Where,” he repeated, “is it?”

“I sold it,” he admitted sheepishly.

“When, and to whom?” Deprador whispered ominously.

“Just now,” El Tendero, whispered back, “and to barbudo.”

The bearded one! Deprador had passed him when he came in. Turning quickly he started out to find the man who had taken one of Deprador’s greatest treasures in life. Towering over everyone else, he easily spotted his quarry strolling down the street a short distance away. In four large bounds he caught him, and a fifth put in front. He turned and glared at his foe, watching him visibly shrink before him.

“Hand it over,” he demanded, no room for negotiation in his voice.

Barbudo didn’t pretend he didn’t know what Deprador was talking about. Rather, he just reached in his pocket and handed Deprador that which he longed for.

Taking it, Deprador ambled off, knowing that he would no longer be quite so intimidating, now that everyone knew that one of his greatest cravings in life was coconut filled Easter Eggs!
